Crib Point Public Cemetery was established in 1916, and is located along Disney Street, Crib Point, Victoria. The cemetery covers approximately 4.34 hectares, of which about 3.12 hectares are surveyed and sites planned and identified, and 1.22 hectares is currently bush land and not surveyed.
The cemetery currently has approximately 2500 surveyed gravesites, of which approximately 2050 are occupied, and a further 500 to be surveyed when abutting bush land is cleared.

The cemetery has approximately 450 gravesites non occupied.
Another 500 will be created when the adjoining bush is cleared.

1915: Crib Point Cemetery was reserved after Commander Darly, RAN, requested the Federal Government that 10 acres adjoining Flinders Naval Depot (now known as: HMAS Cerberus) be made available for a cemetery to serve both the Navy and the public.
1916: The Governor in Council gave approval for opening of the Cemetery.
1917: November 17th a Public Meeting was held in the Crib Point Hall to select interested person to manage the cemetery – then called: Hann’s Inlet Cemetery.
The Cemetery was to be divided into the then current Religious Denominations with Two Trustees for each section as follows:
1920: The Cemetery Trust met on January 13th at which, each Denomination should be allocated a specific location within the Cemetery and an Official Plan was drawn by: Mr John C. Gamble.
1920: The first burial was on 15th January 1920 – Mr John BUCKLEY Farmer of Balnarring. Comp. 8 Grave 7. By this time the Cemetery was known as: Crib Point Cemetery.
Early Naval Burials:
1921: Stoker Robert Robinson. Comp. 9 Grave 122
1922: Stoker Donald A. Hendren. Comp. 3 Grave 229
1923: Stoker William Slater. Comp. 6 Grave 224
1950: The Cemetery was in a neglected condition and a Public Meeting was called to revive the Trust, this was done.
1961: Burials stood at: 145 and the area was well maintained.
1970: The Health Department reported on the Cemetery and commented that although just three-quarters of an acre was in use, the area was in excellent condition.
Trust Member Mr. Clem Kleinig who worked in the Gardens Department at the Navy Depot, liaised with the Navy to assist with fencing three sides, two of which adjoin the Naval Depot.
